The Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Not Ignore Water Damage

Sherrie Howe • October 9, 2020

In Central Maryland, Do Not ignore water damage!

There are a number of reasons why you may have water damage in your home or business in Central Maryland. A burst pipe, tropical storms, hurricanes, or leaky appliances just to name a few. Water damage will not go away if you just ignore it. It can lead too much bigger problems that may cost you not only more money to fix it, but also your health.

Foundation Damage . Floodwaters can cause large cracks in your homes foundation causing structural damage and Central Maryland has their share of floods.

Health Problems. Water damage can cause mold and mildew if not fried out properly. Respiratory issues are cause by mold growth and those especially susceptible are those with condition from eczema, asthma or COPD.

Electrical Damage. Flood waters can lead to electrical wires and cables being unsafe, which could lead to a fire hazard in the future if not taken care of properly.

Insurance claims. If you wait too long to restore your property’s water damage and the problem gets worse, you may have a tough time getting your claim. Insurance companies do not play nice with people who delay fixing the problem.

Stains and odors. Water damage stains are hard to get rid of if you leave them for too long. Painting over them several times will still allow the stain to come through in time.  Mold and mildew odors are extremely hard to get rid of. You may think they’re gone, and they may be on hot dry days, but when the humidity returns, that awful smell returns.

If you have water damage, take care of the damage as quickly as possible to avoid more serious problems.
